THE DETECTIVE CHESS SET – A CASE FOR TWO

Welcome to Victorian London: fog over the rooftops, gas lamps on every corner – and in the middle of the board two detective armies in gold and silver face off. The entire board is designed as a street scene: brick walls, townhouses, chimneys, domes and four large gas lamps at the corners frame the playing field. Every piece is a small sculpture – richly detailed and finished by hand.

THE PIECES (32 pieces, complete)
• King – the master detective with coat, cap and magnifying glass
• Queen – elegant Victorian lady
• Bishop – investigator with revolver in a long coat
• Knight – caped detective on London cobblestones
• Rook – Victorian townhouse with clock tower
• Pawns – London bobbies with lanterns between townhouses

Each piece stands on a sculpted base with cobblestones and house façades. The board is made of individually inlaid tiles in gold and silver with an elegant faceted texture that shifts with the light.
