This freestanding sculpture captures a tender moment as the Virgin Mary gently cradles the infant Jesus. Calm expressions, carefully modelled faces and flowing folds of fabric give the composition a quiet, intimate presence. Layered drapery and finely sculpted details draw the eye down to the ornamental pedestal, which is fully integrated into the figure. The back is completely modelled as well, allowing the statue to be displayed freely and appreciated from every angle. It makes a thoughtful centrepiece for a sideboard, display cabinet or personal devotional setting.
